This column is one of my all-time favorites! Scroll down to see even more!
Writing newspaper columns which would be read from coast to coast, and just about everywhere in between was a dream I had not even known I'd had. It was an extremely rewarding experience though, and from those years spent writing for my local paper, as well as the USA Today Network, a career was born.
The majority of my writing now focuses on the creation of books, with an occasional feature story for a magazine thrown in. The importance of the newspaper columns I authored years and years ago has not been lost on me. They were an important part of my journey to get to where I am now. As such, I felt obliged to share some of those articles with ya'll here. And if any of you have an interest in reading more of them, I suspect The Google could help you find them!
Two of these columns are permanent fixtures on this website. A wonder in the eyes of children and A tent is more than a place to sleep can always be found here. They are two of my favorite columns and their messages are worth having available anytime someone gets the itch to read them.
My columns have appeared in USA Today publications in Alabama, Arizona, California, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont, Wyoming, and of course, Wisconsin. Those are the editions I saw personally. It is possible there are more out there as USA Today never felt obliged to let me know where and when my columns would run, mostly because it was not feasible as they ran in more papers than I could count. Keeping track of them all would have been a Herculean task and would have significantly impacted my hunting and fishing time. The ones you will see here ran in one of my local papers, either The Wausau Daily Herald or The Point Journal - much easier for me to keep track of those!
You can click any of these columns to read them in their entirety. I try to update them seasonally and some of them even feature commentary from yours truly. While two of these columns can be found here anytime, the other four are changed somewhat frequently, so check back periodically to see new ones.
I highly recommend all of these companies. I am not paid to endorse them, nor do they endorse me. They simply make some of the best outdoor equipment on the market and support some of the outdoor causes closest to my heart. Whether making sure outdoor habitat and big game are preserved for future generations or making sure we have the best equipment available when we go afield, you can't go wrong with any of these companies - in my opinion of course!
